Steel Coupling Beams in Low-Seismic and Wind Applications

This research is focused on coupled core wall systems (CCW) that utilize steel coupling beams in low-seismic and wind applications. The current requirements for the analysis, design, and detailing of steel coupling beams provide for high seismic applications, but they fall short for applications under wind events. This research will support the design of steel coupling beams using the ASCE/SEI Prestandard for Performance Based Wind Design (ASCE, 2019).
