Foundation Mats with High-Strength Steel Reinforcement

The research aims to 1) obtain additional data for a deep member with high-strength longitudinal reinforcement and without shear reinforcement, thereby providing additional data for very deep members that can inform the ACI 318 one-way shear equations for very deep members with low flexural reinforcement ratio. 2) obtain data for a “soil-supported” deep member to address the question of whether there are fundamental differences between the behavior of soil-supported deep beams and simply supported deep beams.
